Welcome to the first Chairs update of 2021. I hope you, your family, friends and loved ones are all well. As I write this today we’re remembering 1 year to the day that the first lock-down occurred in the UK and whilst there are many things to feel sad and frustrated about, I took time this morning to reflect on all the opportunities that have arisen that may not have been the case without this year of isolation.

The Central Statistical Monitoring / Quality Tolerance Limits - Special Interest Group (CSM SIG) has formed itself to create a forum to collaborate and discuss statistical strategies and methodology.

One of the great things about the PSI Board is its ability to adapt to meet our changing needs and focus areas. We have continuously done this over the years and as 2020 drew to a close I reflected a lot on what we had achieved, what we still wanted to accomplish and what were the barriers to holding us back. PSI are pleased to announce that following the postponement of our next face to face conference to 2022, we will instead be running an online conference next year. The online conference will be held over the same dates as previously planned, that is, between 21 to 23 June 2021.

Are you a PSI member looking to become more involved with PSI? The communications committee is looking for someone to lead a sub-group to organise and run several hackathon events. The goal of the hackathons is to design a visualisation tool that can help committees to engage digitally with the PSI community in the best way. A visualisation tool will help committees learn how their outreach performs and learn how to generate a more active community

Welcome to the third chairs blog of 2020! I’d like to firstly thank Nigel Howitt for handling things during May-July while I was out on maternity leave. This year is going a little differently than we had planned and last month we took the difficult decision to postpone the PSI Conference in 2021, which was to be held in Gothenburg to 2022.
