PSI needs you!

Here at PSI, we pride ourselves on our strong global network of volunteers who give their time and populate our committees, special interest groups and publications. If you would like to get involved, we have listed some opportunities below. Current Opportunities - PSI Board of Directors

The PSI Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, governance, and financial management of PSI. The Board meets monthly, usually via teleconference with one face to face meeting each year. The Board members are elected by the PSI membership for a term of up to four years. In June 2024, four of our Board members will be coming to the end of their terms. We therefore have vacancies for the following Board positions (please note, additional information on each role will be available shortly but a short summary is available below):

Vice Chair

The Vice Chair helps to guide the strategy and governance of PSI, and serves as a deputy for the Chair. They will have a clear vision for the future of PSI and the contribution of statisticians and data scientists in the pharmaceutical industry and beyond. Membership Director

The Membership Director plays a crucial role in ensuring the growth, engagement, and satisfaction of our membership. Treasurer & Contracts Director

The Treasurer and Contracts Director oversees the annual budget, regular financial transactions, and contracts with partners and service providers on behalf of PSI. This is a critical position to ensure the continued financial stability of PSI and to protect PSI from any legal risks. SIG (Special Interest Groups) Director

The SIG Director oversees and supports the Special Interest Groups, in partnership with a counterpart nominated by EFSPI Council. PSI Careers Universities Committee

PSI Careers Universities Committee is looking for two new members. The successful candidates will help develop further links with universities (through our university contacts) and students (via the PSI student membership and university contacts), publicise careers in medical statistics and the medical statistics apprenticeship. The committee is particularly keen to reach students early in their undergraduate degrees who may not be aware of medical statistics as a career. PSI Careers Outreach Volunteering Champions

The PSI Schools Outreach team are delighted to offer a variety of volunteering opportunities with schools, relating to Maths and Statistics. This is where we'll share any upcoming volunteering roles, so be sure to check back frequently!

PSI Training Committee

The PSI Training Committee are looking for new members to join our team. The Committee organises around 3-4 training courses, held either virtually or and in-person, each year. The Committee represents many different pharmaceutical companies and CROs. It provides a great networking opportunity and the chance to work with different statisticians across the industry. You will organise and facilitate the courses, bringing new ideas and a new network, and help to increase learning and understanding in the industry. If you are interested and would like more information, please email volunteering@psiweb.org.

PSI Small Populations SIG

The Small Populations Special Interest Group is looking to increase its membership in 2024. If you are interested in the challenges associated with drug development for rare diseases and other small populations such as paediatrics, why not join our SIG? We are a group of statisticians from industry, academia and regulatory bodies who meet once a month to share experiences, discuss relevant publications and guidance for industry, and develop resources for other statisticians.
