  • Become the expert for the design and analysis of (adaptive) clinical trials within a European research organization (
  • Develop expertise in Bayesian statistics
  • Support the local infection prevention team in analyzing data from observational and interventional clinical & epidemiologic studies
  • Advise colleagues with regards to the best methodological and statistical approaches for their project; contribute to research protocols, and statistical analysis plans
  • Join the dedicated team of one of the leading Swiss infection control divisions in one of the most beautifully located cities of Europe
The primary focus of this role will be to support the implementation and development of (adaptive) clinical trials within existing perpetual observational studies. Responsibilities will include:
  • Liaising with a range of stakeholders and data providers within an European consortium
  • Providing expertise with regards to analytical approaches for (adaptive) randomized clinical trials, including sample size calculations, statistical analysis plans, quantitative statistical analyses, and regular, standardized reporting
  • Offering support and training in statistical methods to other researchers in the team as appropriate
  • Communicating and reporting the results of statistical analyses to a variety of stakeholders (annual reports, scientific papers, oral presentations etc.)


  • PhD in biostatistics or a similar field, or at least a few years of experience in the field
  • Experience in analyzing data from randomized clinical trials
  • Expertise in analysis of observational data
  • Competency in standard statistical software packages, such as (ideally) R or STATA
  • Fluency in English required, French an asset
  • Keenness to develop specialist skills and knowledge and share that with colleagues

Desired skills

  • Competency in reproducible research (e.g. R Markdown, GitHub)
  • Expertise in Bayesian statistics
  • Experience in survival analysis in the presence of competing risks
  • Knowledge of FDA/EMA regulatory guidelines, or data content standards (CDASH, SDTM, ADaM)
